Is it better to shampoo or steam clean carpets?

It depends on the specific situation and the type of carpet you have. Shampooing can be a good option if you have a heavily soiled or stained carpet. Shampooing uses a detergent solution that is agitated into the carpet fibers, loosening dirt and stains. The solution is then extracted from the carpet using a wet vacuum, leaving the carpet cleaner and fresher. However, shampooing can leave behind some residue that can attract dirt and lead to re-soiling if not rinsed thoroughly.

Steam cleaning, also known as hot water extraction, is a method that uses hot water and a cleaning solution to deep clean carpets. The solution is applied to the carpet and then extracted using a powerful vacuum. Steam cleaning can be a good option if you have a carpet that is sensitive to moisture, as it uses less water than shampooing. It can also be effective at removing allergens and bacteria from carpets.

Overall, both shampooing and steam cleaning can be effective methods for cleaning carpets, but the best option depends on your specific situation. If you have a heavily soiled or stained carpet, shampooing may be the better choice. If you have a carpet that is sensitive to moisture, or if you want to remove allergens and bacteria, steam cleaning may be the better option. It's always a good idea to consult with a professional carpet cleaner to determine the best method for your carpet.
